Genesis 18:22-33

New International Version (NIV)
22 The men turned away and went toward Sodom, but Abraham remained standing before the Lord.[a] 23 Then Abraham approached him and said: “Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? 24 What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare[b] the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it? 25 Far be it from you to do such a thing—to kill the righteous with the wicked, treating the righteous and the wicked alike. Far be it from you! Will not the Judge of all the earth do right?”
26 The Lord said, “If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.
27 Then Abraham spoke up again: “Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, though I am nothing but dust and ashes, 28 what if the number of the righteous is five less than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five people?”
“If I find forty-five there,” he said, “I will not destroy it.”
29 Once again he spoke to him, “What if only forty are found there?”
He said, “For the sake of forty, I will not do it.”
30 Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak. What if only thirty can be found there?”
He answered, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.”
31 Abraham said, “Now that I have been so bold as to speak to the Lord, what if only twenty can be found there?”
He said, “For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it.”
32 Then he said, “May the Lord not be angry, but let me speak just once more. What if only ten can be found there?”
He answered, “For the sake of ten, I will not destroy it.”
33 When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home.

That is the mercy and grace of our God

Amos 3:3-7

New Living Translation (NLT)

Witnesses against Guilty Israel

Can two people walk together
    without agreeing on the direction?
Does a lion ever roar in a thicket
    without first finding a victim?
Does a young lion growl in its den
    without first catching its prey?
Does a bird ever get caught in a trap
    that has no bait?
Does a trap spring shut
    when there’s nothing to catch?
When the ram’s horn blows a warning,
    shouldn’t the people be alarmed?
Does disaster come to a city
unless the Lord has planned it?
Indeed, the Sovereign Lord never does anything
until he reveals his plans to his servants the prophets.

Today, I was with couple members of my life group, and we just spent some time reading the Word together and these verses really stuck out to me. It was really eye-opening, and I felt that I needed to hear this. As verse 3 mentions, how can two people walk if they can't agree what the destination. When we are walking with God, how can we ever expect to walk together, side by side, if our goals are so very different. Its just not possible if we have different expectations.

Although many times, we struggle and complain that God is not leading me in the direction or He is not guiding me, or He has abandoned me. However, it is so NOT true. As verse 7 mentions, God always reveals his plans to us. He wants us to know what he has in store for our future so that we may be on the same page. Sometimes, we feel like He isn't telling us anything, but maybe its because we are so loud and we just scream out to God asking for what we want. We just scream and shout and cry out to God to give us what we want, but maybe what we need to do is just sit and listen to God talking to us. Many times, I feel that my  own voice is covering up the voice of God. I'm so consumed in my own desires that it seems like God has abandoned me. In fact, God is trying to communicate with us so that we may walk in the same direction as him.

The best thing maybe is not to cry out, but to sit down and just listen to what God has to say.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. (Psalms 27:1, 2 ESV)
