Daily Reading!

1 Timothy 4:8

English Standard Version (ESV)
for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

Fellowship!

Late night bowling with some of the upperclassman! We were all too tired to actually bowl our best...haha

Daily Reading

1 Timothy 1:12-14 ESV

I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.

Memories

Thinking of my calc midterm reminds me of the time when Daniel Song, Superman Choe, and I had our little competition...Does this mean something?

Worship!

The reason why I have been posting so much lately is because I have the urge to post, and it keeps me distracted from studying! :D

Ezekiel 1:28

New Living Translation (NLT)
28 All around him was a glowing halo, like a rainbow shining in the clouds on a rainy day. This is what the glory of the Lord looked like to me. When I saw it, I fell face down on the ground, and I heard someone’s voice speaking to me.

I pray that during the undergraduate retreat I will be going to this weekend, I can experience God in this similar manner!

P.S. Hey Robby! Welcome to the exclusive group of people that know about this blog!

P.S.S For those of you who don't know who Robby is, he is a prominent leader in Harvest, and since I came to Ann Arbor, he has been watching out for me. Please keep him and all the other leaders in Harvest in your prayers. Thanks!

2 Thessalonians 2:13

New International Version (NIV)

Stand Firm

13 But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as firstfruits[a] to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth.

This reminds me of what P Phil used to say a lot during his sermons. Everyday, we have to go to a time of thanksgiving. We have to understand that we are blessed and gifted because God chose US. He chose us to be his "firstfruits". He chose us to spread the Good News. We should not disrespect the opportunity God gave us as His chosen people.

Dorm Room Life style

Just a quick comment on my dorm room life. You can already tell the effects of midterms on these students. They either relieved their stress of studying or celebrated the end of midterms in a way that isnt the best way. I can smell puke all over the hallways.

Midterm studies...

Studying for this midterm will be the death of me. Too much calculus.....Help!!!

1 Thessalonians 5:6-9

English Standard Version (ESV)
So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, are drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,

Deuteronomy 30:9-14

New International Version (NIV)
Then the Lord your God will make you most prosperous in all the work of your hands and in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your land. The Lord will again delight in you and make you prosperous, just as he delighted in your ancestors, 10 if you obey the Lord your God and keep his commands and decrees that are written in this Book of the Law and turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

Heads Up!

I just want to give you all a heads up that this week I will only be posting Daily Reading most likely. I have two midterms, and I need to study for them. Also, a couple announcements and prayer request. I participated in H-games which is where all the life groups in the church gather to compete to see who is the best LG out there. Unfortunately, my LG lost, but all hope is not lost for we are ANCHORED in Christ. That is our LG name.

Couple prayer request: This Tuesday, I will be fasting with my LG. So the most common fast is with food, but I might be doing other fasting like social media. I could save an hour or two if I just stop checking my instagram and email so often. So I need your strength to go through that day as I break that fast at night with my LG.

Also, I will be going to the undergraduate retreat this Friday-Sunday, which means I will not be available to post. If I can, I will try to. I ask that you pray for this retreat to go well for everyone attending, and the pastors that are giving sermons.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for checking this blog and reading and commenting and supporting me. I truly thank God for giving me such a supportive community. I don't know where I would be if it weren't for you guys.

Miss you all,
Benny Jeong

PS. Daniel Song, I miss how you make me flinch and end up slapping me. :O I do surprisingly miss the slaps we exchange.

PSS. Jon Lee, I miss talking to you and hearing you laugh at everything. Definitely need to play monopoly one for time for old times sake. Miss you and thanks for all the comments

PSSS. David Yim, I'm very excited for you to come up! I miss the encouragements you give me on a weekly basis that sometimes include a slap in the butt to get me going. Haha

PSSSS. David Kim, I hope you are killing it back there in the YG. (V-ball pun). I hope to see a lot of change/growth when I come back. I know it must be stressful for college apps and stuff, but everyone in my grade and above are willing to help, just ask. Finish those apps before thanksgiving, and your year will go much smoother. Its a guarantee. Be the thunder! (Gobble from last year)

1 Thessalonians 1:4-5

English Standard Version (ESV)
For we know, brothers[a] loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You knowwhat kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.

Daily Reading!

Today's daily reading will be a little different. I was thinking about my reading today, and I thought of this scene from Facing the Giants. This is my favorite scene, and it moved me the first time I heard it and now I reference it as much as possible. Please watch!

Colossians 4:6

English Standard Version (ESV)
Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

I think this is more important now than ever for me since I am meeting so many new people with new backgrounds and culture. I need to watch what I say and how I say it since the way I talk may be normal in Chicago, but it is rude from wherever the person I meet is from. Also, I feel that simply talking in a positive and encouraging manner is just something that will improve my character.
